Cricket World cup - This time for SubContinent

8:34 AM Posted by iSachin 5 comments
Finally our wait is over, the Cricket spectacle has started. It was a endless wait where cricket enthusiast where we were watching the "Days to Go" column on TV. Actually I had planned to write on the world cup matches every day, but you people must be knowing how busy I am.

You people might fascinate to know that when I did my first project, it was regarding the Cricket world cups. It was the time when I was at Aptech in 2001 something. At that time we needed to have a website developed in the HTML for project submission. So I decided to do a project which interests me more. Obliviously cricket is the passion of most of the Indians, so it wasn’t difficult to choose the subject. My project name was ‘www.worldcupdetails.com’, at that time there wasn’t any site with that name. I got the all the information from ‘rediff.com’.

Main thing is I have been cricket enthusiast all my life. You all must have been, so its time to enjoy it once again. Main thing is this cricket spectacle is right here in Sub-continent. Technically not the whole of it, as Pakistan is not hosting it. It would not have that Asian flavor to it but what can we do. That country has enough problems.

Let’s look at the teams. It’s been late for that but I have to do or rather you people don’t have option. We will look at subcontinental teams first.

Its been 2-3 weeks that I want to finish this blog. Lets finish it once and for all..

India:- There is no team who can surely score 300+ score in every outing other than India. Batting is always been the strength of the team. Bowling is the weak link, India lack in this regards, we do not have out an out pace bowler who would threaten to take wickets.

I feel we will be very vernarable because if we didn't get the wickets suitable to batting in knockout stage. I am afraid it would be end to our cup hopes. Being realistic I don't this India has much of chance if they don't not improve there performance in bowling dramatically.

Impact Player - Yuvaraj Singh : In my view star in the tournament would be Yuvaraj Singh. He is the person who can blast the opposition with his batting and can spun a web of his spin around other teams batsmen. People mistake him as a part time bowler but I think he is lot talented in his bowling than the people think. So my bet is on Yuvi.

Pakistan:- One of the dangerous team in the tournament. They may not have the batsmen who are prolific run scorers like India has but they have 2-3 dangerous player who one there day would work wonders especially bowlers. They have beaten Sri lanka 3 days back that too in Sri lanka. Now everybody has started to recognize then as one of the favorites.

Pakistan team always been like this you don't know which game they are going to play. They are playing well in 3-4 matches, I think they are gelling well as team which is very dangerous to others. As country they have nothing to loose or it cannot get worse than what it is now. This mentality has creeped into the team hence they are playing fearless cricket.

Now as they have played some games and came out victorious, they must be feeling pretty good and confidence of that team must be very high. whoever they face in quarter or semi final's that side would be in danger.

Impact Player - Shahid Afridi : Its no brainner that key player for the Pakistan is Shahid Afridi. The charismatic all rounder has taken 9 wickets in 2 matches and looks good to take many more. If his batting clicks then Pakistan would be unstoppable.

Sri Lanka:- Most consistent teams in subcontinent with very good home record. They are literally unbeatable in there home grounds but out side Sri Lanka they are vulnerable. One of the balance teams in the subcontinent but lack a strong middle order. This middle order always had been the strong points of Sri Lanka but in recent past more experienced players moved to high up the order. This was pretty evident in the match against Pakistan.

Spinners always been the strength of the Lankan's. Chaminda Vaas Served them well with his swing bowling but they have found an express and awkward fast bowler Lasith Malinga who can be devastating on his day. Muralidharan will be main stay of the spin attack but I think age has caught up with him so it would be interesting to see how he bowls in this world cup.

Impact Player - Angelo Mathews: He will be a stand out performer in this tournament. His medium pace and Batting ability will surely help lankan's in the knockout stages. I think this payer has great potential to be one of the best players in the tournament. I am glad that he is part of the Pune Worriors. :)

Bangladesh: We can call them minnows of the subcontinent. They have been on that status for very long time. This is the time that can change all that. Its a very young side with average at around 23-24 but have played nearly 70-100 matches each. I don't expect too much from them but odd upset is surely on the cards.

They always had the team or batsmen for that matter but like India they also lack in the pace department. There is no one who we can say a quality medium pacer. It is a very heavy spin bowling unit. They can be very good on under prepared wicket but on very good batting surfaces, only god can help them. I am not sure whether they would qualify for knockout stages but if they do then I would be happy for our immediate neighbour.

Impact Player - Shakibul Hasan: He is the most consistent player in the side. He is by far the complete player, some people would surprise to hear that he has been the number one spinner in the world for many days and number one all-rounder. This player looks good in whatever he do. I think if they want to qualify for the Quarter's he has to play a big role.

.....

No wonder that all the key players are All-rounders. This game has always been the game of all rounders. They provide important skills in both innings of the match. All these players have shown that they can be useful for there respective teams.

Lets hope this time a team from sub-continent wins this tournament because its been very long that cup has come in this chunk of the land. As Indian hoping that cup would come to us but to be frank its unlikely scenarios but like true fan we have already won it..in our dreams Of course.

Egyptian Revolution 2.0 - Picture that changed Land of Ferro's

9:52 PM Posted by iSachin 2 comments
This was the very unique case, where its been in the fashion where people criticizes the Social Networking site. This event of the history has shown us that how powerful it can be.

This movement started from a page called 'We are all khalid said'. This was the page designated to the death of the Blogger who got killed due to police atrocities in Alexandria (Second largest City in the Egypt). He posted the page in name of the Martr, this page become such a rage that people started to talk about the revolt against the Human Rights Abuse against people of Egypt.

This was the common thing in the Egypt, hence he called a protest on 25th of Jan last month in the Tahrir square.

When Wael Ghonim got there there were near about 25000 people, which was way ahead of his estimates. They were chanting against the government. While those demonstrations he got arrested. When he came out of the custody he could not believe himself that some group on Facebook could lead to millions of people on the streets.

Yesterday was one more historic day, which our generation has witnessed. I haven't see the pictures of people celebrating on the streets after getting the freedom. After watching the ordeal for last 18 day, it was truly amazing to witness such a revolution which started from the mean which we use daily, could lead to revolution and freeing its people.

This event truly amazing to see how people can dislodge a Dictator. The Dictator who ruled the country with such ruthlessness, needed only 18 days. I think this is the power of the people, when they come together nothing is impossible. This result has very long lasting impact on the Middle East, There are many nervous dictators now than yesterday. I think they must be counting there days. Actually it is not that far from us, if it spreads in the middle-east. It would sure come to our door steps.

Will we have a uprising like this in the future? it is a million dollar question. I am not sure when it would happen, not likely in the near future. Its not that we didn't had such a revolution. We had many, one of that got the independence without bloodshed. In my view the revolution already started in some parts of India. It is against the police atrocities and Corrupt politicians or Mine Mafia's, we call it Naxalism. All of it is not bad, there are many valid concerns of the Tribal People, they do not have the means which we have in cities. We need to take note of there struggle or be ready to face the problems in the cities.

It wont take time to people to get fed up with the government policies and amount of corruption happening. I myself has been very critical of the corruption, in my view corruption is the only thing which could lead to downfall of our great country.

Corruption of the minds of the rulers has led to this revolution, people fed up with there corrupt practices. Yes, This is actually a revolution against the Corrupt people, who think that they can do anything they want and Get away with it. Its now time to think again.

I am really ashamed of our government, who instead of speaking for the people of Egypt was mute spectator. We as a democracy (however bad its been) has the responsibility to protect and promote it(unlike Uncle Sam). It is time that Government of India should give all the support to the people of Egypt needs. After all we both are very old civilizations hence we must support the people, whichever way we could.

In my view that day is not far where we as Indian's need a revolution to stop the corrupt practices of the people in the government. We have done this in the past and surely we can do in the future. We just need the will and determination. As a youngest country in the world, I think government should start acting on these corrupt people or get ready to face the anger of the people.

There were 1 million on the street of Cairo. We can have 10 million, then no army or the force would stop us. I am hoping that our leader would take note of the anger of the people and act on time, cause if they won't act now. It would be too late in the future....
