Where are we going with Anna’s Fast.
As I had said in my "Anna Hazare - Fight for Janlokpal Bill" blogs , I emphasized on the “coming on the streets” for this fight against corruption. In my view it is the single biggest threat to our country. Corruption has the power of destroying many families and far reaching impact on the society even bigger than “Terrorism”. In my previous blogs I have talked about the “Financial Terrorism”, where lakhs are people are getting killed due to lack of facilities which are there but do not reach to them due to corruption. Enough of the summary of my previous blogs not need to go to actual topic and that is “Fight against Corruption lead by Anna Hazare”.
We all have seen the impact of the revolution on the TV which I expressed in Egyptian Revolution blog. Many people were thinking of doing that in our country. I myself have been fed up with this menace. Like me there are millions or billions Indians who were wanted to something but didn’t knew how to do it.
There were many who wanted to have such a revolution in our country but I always been the sceptical about it as there conditions and ours are completely different. Many people are comparing this struggle with the struggle of Egyptians. In my view there is absolutely no comparison between two fights. On the contrary there are very different. The Egyptians fight was for their basic rights and a dictator but for us the fight is against corrupt politicians and the system which allows that to happen. In that revolution nearly 1000 people’s got killed but Indian has the experience of doing it in non-violent way.
It’s really heartening to see the large amount of crowds on the streets. I myself have not visited any group but watching on the TV and trying to contribute in my own way. Everyone is doing that, this time on Anashan there is lot more awareness compare to previous. This gathering is not spontaneous, we had similar gathering when we won the world cup. There were youngsters on the streets to enjoy the victory. Everyone on the net itching to fight against the Corruption but they didn’t knew the way.
Whatever has been achieved till now is not just because of Anna’s fasting but the support he has got from the youngster. For me any struggle fought on the street is done by youth only. There are few reasons for that, as youngster we don’t think too much. I mean we don’t go into the details. We always bothered about the end result. After all it’s all about their future; if they don’t act now then they won’t be able to see the India as super power India.
Latest news which I saw on the TV is that there is now new group who is also saying that government should reject both the existing versions and select there instead. This could be tactic from the government also by dividing the whole Civil Society movement. We now should not fall trap to these fake Civil Societies. It’s time to put all the weight behind the Anna’s Team. Anna’s Team has surely shown that what can happen if a group of people can do if they stick together. It was god grace that they got the support of biggest civil activist and gandhian but it’s their sheer hard work that has propelled this movement this far.
Everyone later realised that it’s not the support on the internet which is going to be crucial but actual support on the ground i.e. on the roads. It’s really good to see that people are dancing, cheering for their future. They have a hope in their eyes that Anna will surely remove the cancer of corruption from the society.
This is really an unusual time where the bill which should be passed by the legislators has been drafted by the civil society. I don’t recall if this has happened in my life time but in desperate times we need to take the desperate measures. I hope this is just a one of things because these darnas and anashan’s are not good for the society. There is a system in the place, however flawed it is.
Role of media is been very crucial in all this as Media really has contributed in this in a big way. It this media whom we criticize for rubbish news has contributed constructively. If they hadn’t been there then we would have not been able to instigate so many people’s emotions.
There is also one facet to this revolution or “Gatherings”. I don’t call this a revolution as there are many things which are needs to be done but it’s a good start. Many must have thinking about they have achieved the victory but in my view this the just the start of the battle. We haven’t even won the battle and there is still a big war to be fought. There is absolutely no room to complacency because this complacency has brought us to this stage.
As always let me end this blog on positive note saying that "We should not loose our focus from the real issue and that is corruption.". This bill is every important in that context, with that this protest has to be a non-violent one otherwise it would loose its actual goal. That goal is achieving a big change in current environment with means of "Gandhi".
