26/11 Mumbai Attack - We Will Not Forget

8:38 AM Posted by iSachin 2 comments
What an unusual climate we are having where in November, its overcast and raining. I couldn't even remember when did this happened last time. Same as the political situation in the country where it looks like every politician is trying to prove that he is biggest scamster. This was the precise reason I have never written a complete blog on corruption. Because as soon as I would finish the blog on Corruption there would be a new scandal and I would need to update the blog every other day. At least that's the frequency of these scams now a days.

I absolutely get disgusted when I see these politicians who after gaining the trust of the people, literally don't do anything. In few days the anniversary of 26/11 is approaching and we are faced with the scams of people who are supposed to protect us.

For myself i never felt so helpless in my whole life. It was the continuous torture for 3 days. We all never felt so helpless, I could see that on everyone's faces. Every day we all were praying that all is well but from somewhere the news was coming that there are some more terrorist. It was a horrible feeling and wont want anybody to experience it.

If somebody tells you that this wont happen again, It would take a great deal to convince me. May be that person will fail because we all know nothing has improved on the ground. I am sure that politicians must have done someway or the other scam. It they have not let of war widows of Kargil Hearoes, this war was just for 3 days for them and nothing else.

Even when the attach finished our agency did was to run to every super power and whine about pakistan. The epicenter of Terrorism, but some way we are also responsible or our agencies. We always new that Mumbai is the prime target but never got serious.

Sometimes I feel dishartened when I hear about terrorist using '26/11 Mumbai Attack' as template. If this kind of event happens anywhere in the world, they dont need to search find the evidence

Government is harping that following steps they have taken or going to take but GOD only know what they have done. But they have promised us a lot of things and I got to know few of them so lets see if any of these things you know or recall.
Leadership of the country at that time stressed that the country was totally committed to a comprehensive approach to tackle terrorism and put in sustained intensive efforts to end this menace, it outlined a number of measures taken in the post 26/11 scenario to deal with various facets of terrorism.

Galvanising and recognizing the Multi-Agency Centre (MAC) in the IB to enable it to function on 24X7 basis.
The MAC was also obliged to share intelligence with all other agencies, including agencies of the State governments and Union Territories. An online, dedicated and secured connectivity between all the designated members of the MAC, between the MAC and the Subsidiary Multi-Agency Centres (SMACs) in 30 key locations across the country was also being established.

The National Security Guards (NSG), whose commandos battled the terrorists in Mumbai last November, now have four NSG hubs – each with an operational strength of around 250 personnel – in Hyderabad, Kolkata, Mumbai and Chennai. The government had decided to set up two regional centres of the NSG in Hyderabad and Kolkata, to enable quick response to terror attacks.

As many as 20 temporary Counter-Insurgency and Anti-Terrorism Schools were being set up during the 11th Plan period. Four such schools each would be set up in Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Orissa so as to provide training to police personnel of these States to tackle the naxal menace, the statement said.

Following 26/11, coastal security was also reviewed at various levels. Under the ongoing Coastal Security Scheme, 64 out of 73 coastal police stations were operationalised. Coastal States and Union Territories were also given 47 interceptor boats so far. It would go up to 126 by March 2010.

As many as 79 new battalions of the Central Para-Military Forces were sanctioned since 2004-05 and a proposal for raising 38 additional battalions of the Central Reserve Police Force, including two battalions of women personnel, was recently approved by the Cabinet Committee on Security. Out of these, 38 battalions, three would be raised in 2009-10.

The ceiling with regard to the strength of the Central Industrial Security Force, which guards airports and public sector units, was enhanced to 1,45,000 from 93,521 in 2005.

The Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act was amended and notified on December 31 last year to reinforce the legal and punitive provisions of law to combat terrorism with greater focus and for strengthening of provisions relating to financing of terrorism, bail, power to call for information.

A Model Police Act, drafted by an expert committee in 2006, which provided for well defined duties and responsiveness and sensitivity of the police towards public and accountability to rule of law was sent to the States for consideration. Assam, Bihar, Chattisgarh, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Kerala, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tamil Nadu, Tripura and Uttarakhand either framed New Police Acts or amended the existing ones.

The National Police Mission was also set up with the aim of equipping the police to think creatively and help it transform itself from a reactive to a proactive organization.
Sometimes I feel that we should stop blaming our security forces because at-least they do something which they have been taught something in the Academies but for politicians there is nothing. It would be fruitless to expect anything from them.

There has been some visible changes we are seen in our neighborhood or area but it comes only when there is a red alert or for a politicians visits. I myself never felt to also admire the stress of the security forces. They cannot do more because first of all they are very less in number and second that they are not that well trained.

I actually planned to publish this before the 26/11's second anniversary but for some reasons it got delays. Anyway it doesn't dilute the seriousness of the situation. The main motive of this blog was to make aware why were went into that horrible situation and what are the things which are promised to us by the government.

Lets not be complacent this time, because we have a very dangerous neighborhood. We need to put place our house in the order, because the danger is lurking on our head all the time. I hope that day would never come but if it comes we need to be better prepared.

Yes, We Can - Magic of Obama

8:47 AM Posted by iSachin 2 comments
Its been a landmark visit by the US President Barak Obama to our country recently but this time around there has been a paradigm shift. I was keenly awaiting for his visit, wanted to know the thoughts for such a powerful personality in the world. A person who has won hearts of millions of Americans in last election. First black person who has won the presidency in US.

I was keenly following the electoral process in the US, start from the selection of the candidates of the 2 parties from the primaries. I think, i never gave 5% of my attention to the Indian elections (Gharki murgi daal barabar). It was really a good entertainment where everyday there was new revelations literally every day. allegations and counter allegations was the flavour of the season. I learned lot how the presidential form of democracy works.

It was really a fascinating story of a man who has such colorful past (not like Tiger woods but in good sense) lets see what was he, how he became the man he is today. Most of all what was my thinking about him or perceptions about him.

When I first read about him as running for presidency at that time I thought he didn't had any chance to win, That too against Hillary Clinton. At that time there was a great love affair going on between US and India via Bush and Manmohan Singh. US was ready to do anything to counter China hence it started to elevate the status of India by awarding the Nuclear Deal.

Sometimes there was this great tamasha of Democrat and Republic Primaries going on. I must say they have a superb system to elect some one to elect him again for presidency. ha ha ha.. Let it be, There was very unique thing was happening. It was ki both the candidates by the Democrats could have been there historic first i.e. First Women president or First Black male president. In case of Barak Obama, even though I follow lot for international politics, never heard of his name.

An as the campaign progressed he fallen behind Hillary Clinton. But at end of the campaign he took the lead and Hillary Clinton, where she accepted her defeat. My thinking was Hillary could have been a better president in relation to India than Barak obama. But Its in traditions of democrats that there are conservative party unlike Republican who are promoters of free trade. Which by the way we need now to progress.

In elections, as he is the incredible speaker gave the massage of change, message was 'Yes, We Can'. Americans were ready to listen to only one message, Message of 'Change'. That's what Barak Obama gave to them. He inspired the young generation in the US, which was some what disassociated with the historical Racial Discrimination. They voted in large number to this black president. Rest is history my friends.

Immediately within one year of his presidency he got the Nobel peace prize. I was shocked to hear that, when a person who absolutely did nothing substantial for peace on world stage got this award. World had a great love affair with him. Many Americans were very surprised to hear about his win, cause this was the times when Financial crisis was at its peak. They wanted there president to be doing something for them, They new the real Obama. Not the world who were not affected by his policies or his decisions. I truly think that by giving the Nobel peace prize to the president in his first year of presidency and that to without any substantial work done in that area, thus Jury has discredited the prize. Even Mahatma Gandhi hasn't got it, May be because he is far greater that those prizes.

President Obama made waves in India when he strongly advocated the anti-outsourcing Bills and Discriminatory visa policies where Indian companies were made to pay the bills for border security of US with Mexico. He had to do it for his local constituencies as the mid-term elections where there and had to fulfill his promises. At least wanted to pretend to do something.

And then came the visit of India. There was great controversy going on for not informing the India about David Headly. The US Ambassador was continuously bombarded with those questions but amazing, he never got frustrated and made all the positive noises. I said this time it was different because he was playing for the galleries of US media where he is pretending to be 'Creating thousands of Jobs in Us'. He signed deals worth $10 Billion, but its nothing compare to scams such as telecoms scam which are worth $35 billion. Though he was happy with that and we are too.

He made a historical speech in the parliament where he supported the bid for permanent seat to UN Council. UN Council Seat which India has made a issue of great pride, I would rather write on this afterwards. We all Indians waiting to hear that, everyone was happy. Along with that he also made so very good comments as follows.

My confidence in our shared future is grounded in my respect for India’s treasured past-a civilization that has been shaping the world for thousands of years. Indians unlocked the intricacies of the human body and the vastness of our universe. And it is no exaggeration to say that our information age is rooted in Indian innovations-including the number zero”.

He again applauded and thanked Mahatma Gandhi saying, ” I might not be standing before you today, as President of the United States, had it not been for Gandhi and the message he shared with America and the world”.

President Obama also praised India’s multi-cultural society and its social fabric that gives space for the co-existence to people of all castes, class, colors and creed. Obama also praised India’s strong democracy.
He again emphasized how the USA welcomes India as an emerging global power and also stressed the need for co-operation in defense and civil space. Obama also spoke about Indo-US partnership in science, agriculture, economic ties, space research and health.

I really impressed with his wife Michelle Obama and her dancing skills. Only disappointment i had was such a educated women who was once worked as lawyer didn't got a single invitation form any of our leading educational institutes. Her insights could have been inspirational to lot of young girls, god knows who made her itinerary.

My conclusion was that he visit could have been different but I could see the falling image and economical stature of US. US has not been the same country is was 10 years ago. But this president is doing his bit to take the US Citizen out of this crisis and the world indirectly. Everyone hates US but wants to go and leave there, such is the world and to work as president of such country is truly remarkable job. We ought to respect him for enormous responsibilities on the shoulder.

The thing which me is his message and we also need to apply in our lives.

Yes, We can

Get Exhausted

9:05 AM Posted by iSachin No comments
Hi..All. I think this is been the longest gap in blog since i started writing (or preaching for some people. ha ha ha) at my second stint. This was the good time to look at my silly work (some may say that, ha ha ha) but basically the reason for gap was I was out of Pune to my hometown for Diwali Vacations and there was no internet there. I even couldn't find a net cafe at my Taluka Place such was the situation. Never the less you all has peaceful some days but guess what happy days are over and I am back.

I really needed the break as i was continuously working or may I dare to say 'going to office' or may be not doing good at work..whatever..I was exhausted and I felt that. I never imagined how people get exhausted but you wont feel that unless and until you do.

As always i found a very interesting fact about the free time According to a new study published in the January 2010 issue of the Journal of Social and Clinical Psychology, people experience better moods, greater vitality and fewer aches and pains from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon, even if they like their job.

Sometimes you get so busy with your work so much that you won't realize that you are missing so many things in life that otherwise you would have done. Its time to retrospect,

According to me There can be 2 type of work,
  • Professional work - Which we do by going to office. Not just going to office but doing some constructive work there. Most of our life we spent to earn money for one and once family.
  • Unprofessional work - This work is any work which we do outside office like social work or helping elders etc. This work is also as important as our professional work, which let an individual to grow with right attitude. Its not that i do it but i think it is important. But yes if one gets the chance to make a change he or she should not hesitate from it.

You may find it amateurish. Don't take unprofessional as completely unprofessionally, its just to make the distinction where we earn money or not because end of the day every thing revolve about money. And yes, I wrote this as we tell to differentiate the work we do in our daily life and Unprofessional work is as important as being professional.

So where was I, as usual I left the main topic and dragged you all somewhere else. let it be, now you all know my unprofessional writing ..ha ha ha..

Many of you must be having this exhaustive feeling but sometimes being unprofessional is good thing. Every one should be unprofessional of sometime. Doing absolutely nothing, sleeping late waking up late, even though we have been thought otherwise.

I am not sure if this gap or free-time has helped me as there bigger problems waiting for me, but I am 200% sure it would definitely help you. Haa.. one thing is sure, it spared me some time to introspect and what i need to do in immediate future.

So best of luck for your free time but before that don't forget to get exhausted.
